Free-running may look like fun and games but the hard practice that goes into it is a lot less glamorous.

One of the toughest tricks to pull off are back flips, especially when you're trying to spin several times before landing on your feet. As these clips show, it can end in a face full of dirt when it doesn't go well.

In the first clip, filmed in Buena, New Jersey, USA, on 20 September 2020, Adam Brown goes for a 'double gainer' down a sand slope.

He manages to nail the spin but botches the landing, resulting in a hilarious face plant.

"I attempted a double gainer (double backflip going forwards) and landed face-first on the sand," Adam said.

In the second clip, filmed on 23 January 2022, Adam attempts a 'double backflip' on the beach in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

However, a slight timing issue leads to him landing on his belly instead of his feet.

"I was attempting a double backflip on the sand and opened too early, landing on my stomach in a hilarious fashion," the subject stated.

'This was the moment a freerunner botched a flip and had to eat dirt... literally.

The video filmed in Buena, NJ shows Adam Brown going for a double gainer down a sand slope, which he manages to nail despite botching the landing, which results in a hilarious face plant.
