A mouse that was trying to steal food from a kitchen cupboard was found stuck - with its head poking through a small hole.

The rodent scurried inside the cabinet while looking for scraps at the home in Jakarta, Indonesia on February 10.

However, the creature poked its nose through a small circular hole and while trying to escape, became firmly stuck.

It tried to pull itself out when the house owner arrived but to no avail as it was later discovered in the awkward position.

House owner Meilani Anjani said: 'When I first saw it, I was shocked, surprised, and at the same time laughing because it was funny that there was a mouse trapped there.'

In the end, Meilani called her friend to help the mouse out of the hole. It was then released out of the house unharmed.

Meilani added: 'I just hope it doesn't come back to my house to steal food again and learned its lesson.'
