Residents of Prague in the Czech Republic celebrated carnival on Saturday 26 February.

Carnival is a series of events, dating back to the 13th Century, that celebrates feasting and fun before the austere period of Lent. It is the equivalent of ‘Shrove Tuesday’ or Mardi Gras in other nations.

The video shows the holiday 'Malostranské masopustní veselí 2022' taking place in the Prague districts of Karlin, Mala Strana and others.

Masopustní is Old Czech for ‘meat fast’.

In recent years such celebrations have been curtailed by pandemic restrictions.
