British-Ukrainians and anti-war supporters protested outside the Embassy of the Russian Federation on Saturday evening (February 26) after the Putin regime invaded the former Soviet state during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Demonstrators at the embassy were joined by others from a separate protest at Whitehall, where they defaced embassy walls with chalk and paint, chanted slogans and sang the Ukrainian National Anthem repeatedly.

At one point a protester was led away to be searched by police after scattering sunflower seeds into the grounds of the embassy - sunflowers are Ukraine's national flower.
Earlier in the day the coat of arms on the gates had been painted red and protesters targeted the property sporadically with eggs.
