Footage shows how Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, has been severely battered by a bombardment of airstrikes and rocket attacks as Russia sustains its invasion and slowly advances towards the capital Kyiv.

The relentless volley has left Kharkiv, with a population of 1.4 million people, in ruins. Video from March 3 shows debris-covered sidewalks and wrecked buildings with shattered windows after multiple blasts had rocked the city.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov said some 87 apartment buildings were destroyed while water, heating, and power supplies have been cut off in parts of Kharkiv.

Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Minister, said: "Practically there are no areas left in Kharkiv where an artillery shell has not yet hit."
