A heavy snowstorm gripped Istanbul on Thursday (March 10), blanketing both the European and Asian sides of the metropolis. It is expected to continue until Monday, with temperatures fluctuating below zero degrees Celsius (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit) at night.

Visibility on the Bosphorus became more limited and ferry services were affected, as well as tram services.

More than 200 flights were been cancelled at Istanbul’s two airports because of expected snow, the AFP news agency reported, citing Turkey’s airlines.
