Remarkable footage from Argentina shows an orca repeatedly stranding itself on a beach to catch sea lions on March 11.

"Karut, an orca from Valdes Peninsula, strands several times to capture sea lion pups from a remote beach in Patagonia," said the filmer, Jorge Cazenave.

"This hunting technique is mastered by around 15 individual orcas in the world," he added.

"When the sea and wind conditions are good, and when the sea lion females leave their pups to feed, the orca take advantage and capture these pups by literally thrusting themselves onto the beach," Cazenave said.
