Huge tree falls onto pedestrians as strong winds batter Chinese city
A huge tree was blown down onto pedestrians as a storm struck the city of Chongqing, southern China.
In the footage filmed on April 11, the wind power reached level-11, causing trees to blow over, damaged houses, and smashed cars.
One clip shows the moment a large tree snapped and landed on pedestrians passing a shop. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Residents' windows were blown out by the wind. The strong wind also uprooted trees along the road and several cars were hit.
According to the Chongqing Municipal Emergency Management Bureau, as of 10 am on April 12, the storm has caused damage to 45 towns and villages, including 364 houses and 6,898 residents.
Local districts and counties have been asked to strengthen evacuations and relocate affected people promptly, and prevent secondary disasters such as landslides, mud-rock flows, and river floods.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
