Japan demolishes Tokyo's iconic Nakagin Capsule Tower
Demolition works are underway at Tokyo's iconic Nakagin Capsule Tower, an architectural landmark that never really lived up to its original design.
The famous structure by architect Kisho Kurokawa consists of 144 individual capsules and was built between 1970 and 1972.
The idea was that each capsule could be individually replaced and changed. But the cost for that turned out to be too high and over the years the building deteriorated and now has to be taken down.
The footage filmed on April 16 shows outside shots of the unique building and workers busy preparing for the eventual demolition.
