A 2-year-old toddler left a quarantine site in Shanghai on his own after his mum tested positive for COVID-19.

The video filmed by the mother shows the boy walking out of the quarantine site and a worker closing a big iron gate after he went out.

The boy takes a look at his mother before trudging down a path where his grandfather was waiting to pick him up.

It’s reported that the boy tested positive earlier and was taken to a quarantine site. Since he was too young to quarantine by himself, his mother (although she tested negative at the time) went to take care of him at the quarantine site.

Later when the boy tested negative and could leave, his mother tested positive and was told to stay. Therefore the toddler had to leave the site on his own.

The video was filmed on April 20 and provided by local media with permission.
