An impressive St. George's Day parade was held in Gravesend, Kent, UK this morning (April 22), with the highlight being a large red pedal-powered dragon puppet.

The ingenious creation was powered by an elaborate bicycle mechanism connected to various levers operated by the puppeteer.

The parade including St. George - followed by the Dragon - various drummers & musicians, and themed props on sticks made by school children from 18 schools.

St George's Day is the annual day of remembrance for England's patron saint, who is said to have vanquished a dragon – rescuing a princess in the process – centuries ago.

The annual celebration is organised by Cohesion Plus in partnership Kent Equality Cohesion Council, supported by Gravesham Borough Council, Dartford Borough Council and Arts Council England as well as additional partner organisations.

It's the first time it's been held for 2 years due to Covid.
