Women Muslims who are serving jail time at a maximum security prison in the Philippines, were allowed to observe and practice Ramadan inside as part of a 'spiritual reform' program.

Video of the prayers, filmed on April 26, 2022 at around 6pm inside the Mandaluyong Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), shows female inmates doing the magrib or sunset prayers at the open court of the women jail.

Currently there are around 250 Muslim women jailed inside the Mandaluyong CIW, which is the oldest jail for women in the country as well as the most overcrowded, with a population of more than 3,000.

Women Muslims who are serving jail time at Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, Philippines are allowed to observed and practice Ramadan inside the oldest women jail in the country.

Muslims in the video are seen doing the magrib or the sunset prayers at the open court of the women jail. Allowing to perform their practice and belief is part of spiritual reformation of inmates incarcerated inside the most overcrowded women prison in the Philippines with more than 3,000 population..

Currently there are around 250 Muslim women jailed inside CIW.
