A green tree snake was found ‘chilling’ inside a home's air-conditioning unit.

The reptile slithered into the appliance while looking for a safe place to lay her eggs in Ang Thong province, Thailand on April 24.

She was discovered by the house owner in the morning after she had already popped out at least a dozen eggs inside the Carrier-brand unit as she poked her head out as her nest turned colder.

An animal rescuer was called into the property to safely evacuate the mother snake and her eggs into a suitable habitat.

Resident Suwin Thongman said: ‘I was about to turn on the zircon because it was a hot morning, but the snake poked its head out when the vents have opened and the cold air started to fill the room. It might have been chilling inside the aircon.

‘I notified the rescuers to catch the snake for safety. I didn’t know then what kind of snake it was but I could not risk us or the animal being harmed.’

The snake and her eggs were placed inside a sack and taken back to the rescue office for their rehabilitation and release.
