U.S. Senator Cory Booker & Sen. Bob Menendez in Newark, NJ on May 9, 2022 tell me their reaction to United States Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell saying a US abortion ban is possible. Menendez: "They know they're wrong and we must prove them wrong."

Kyle Mazza: "Senator Menendez, are you confident that the White House and President Biden are doing enough to take care of this issue? And Senator Booker, I wanted to get your reaction to what Mitch McConnell said, if it's possible under Republican control. He acknowledged that a national abortion ban is possible if Roe is overturned. So I wanted to get what your immediate reaction was to his comments."
Senator Menendez: "Is President Biden do everything I can? Yes. The answer is he has made it very clear he has used his Justice Department to ensure the rights of women. But let's understand there are divisions of power in this country, what the Constitution calls the separation of powers. One of those powers is the courts of the United States. The Supreme Court is supposedly the final word of what is the law of the land. If this ends up being their final word. There's only one way to change that under our system of government. And that's having a Congress that will codify into law the protection of women's reproductive health and the essence of Privacy for which all other rights flow. And a President who will sign it. I have no question that if sent to President Biden, he would sign such a (inaudible)."
Senator Cory Booker: "And just really quickly, it is very clear what's going on here. This is not a Republican or Democratic issue. Overwhelmingly, Americans support a woman's right to choose and support Roe v. Wade. What this is is a far radical agenda to strip abortion rights away from women in all circumstances and everywhere. That is what is clear here. So nothing that some leader says is going to shock me. If they have been working for decades to bring us to this reality where we have States already that are saying, again, even under the most extreme circumstances, a survivor of rape or survivor of incest, the government is going to tell them what they have to do with their body. And that's outrageous to me. That's what's at stake here and that's what we're going to work together to fight."
Senator Menendez: "Just one more comment about Senator McConnell, the Republicans."
Kyle Mazza: "Yes, Senator."
Senator Menendez: "They have for decades say that they want to end Roe versus waiting for decades. And now that it appears that the court that they helped get through, remember, it was Senator McConnell that held up a Supreme Court nominee under President Obama and denied him with nearly a year in office the opportunity to have a vote. They did that purposely. Now they have a majority that they want. It seems that they are going to have a vote passed by the Supreme Court as to what they want, which is the end row. And when they are asked in Washington about this issue, they are focused on who leaked it versus the consequences of turning over a half century of a decision. They know they're wrong and we've you must prove them wrong."
