Funny video shows playful bobcat enjoying trampoline in California sunshine

A California resident was stunned when she noticed a fun-loving bobcat having a rollicking good time on a trampoline in her backyard on Wednesday (May 11).

Video shows the bobcat happily playing with a piece of foam from the trampoline in the sunshine.

The filmer, from Rancho Cucamonga in San Bernardino County, told Newsflare: "I was walking over to my nephew to cover him with a blanket when he was on the couch reading. I glance out the window and see a BIG cat on the trampoline. I got closer to the window and noticed that it wasn't a cat, but a bobcat."

According to the US National Park Service, bobcats, in common with other predators, are territorial and need their space.

The filmer, who wishes to remain anonymous, added: "We decided to slightly scare it off...but when we opened the door, the bobcat stopped playing and got in attack position as the adult opened the door.

"He quickly closed it and the bobcat went down the stairs of the trampoline and hid behind the bushes. We have not gone out to the backyard or seen it since then."

According to nps.gov, bobcats inhabit "a wide range of natural habitats as well as the fragmented habitat along the edges of human development. The possible abundance of food resources in these areas may be the reason for this type of behaviour [living on the edge of urban areas]."
