Hundreds of locusts swarmed onto electricity lines after a storm in Thailand.

The Bombay locusts were found perched on wet cables and poles outside a Buddhist temple in Trat province on May 9 evening.

Superstitious locals believe the visit from the annoyingly loud critters was a sign of good luck.

They were gone in the morning but incident was reported to local authorities.

Confused resident Nattawat said: ‘The locusts were mostly green to greenish-brown. There was a heavy rain earlier that day and then we just saw them swarming the electricity poles where there was light.’

Bombay locusts are usually solitary insects but extreme weather conditions can cause a change in their behavior leading to forming a swarm. Locust swarms cause major agricultural damage as their feeding habit in large numbers devastates crops.
