More than 700 residents have been evacuated after a heavy rainstorm left parts of a city in southern China submerged.

Video filmed in the city of Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province on June 6 shows deep floodwater submerging roads and houses.

Vehicles were stranded in the floodwater and firefighters are seen rescuing residents trapped in the flooded houses.

According to reports, more than 700 people were trapped in the floods and nearly 1,000 people have been transferred to a safe area.

6月6日，江西赣州赣县区韩坊镇遭遇特大暴雨，部分道路被淹没，洪水将路面车辆冲跑。当地居民廖女士称部分住宅淹至二楼，有的屋内家具、电器被冲走。韩坊镇长演村700多人受困，当地救援队伍赶赴现场，转移危险区群众，韩坊镇全镇已转移人员近千人。当地居民钟先生表示虽然抢险救援还在进行，但最担心的是明天要高考的孩子们。（视频由江西台提供）
