A pensioner was shocked when she found a massive python slinking around in her house in southern Thailand.

Naew, 80, was sleeping under her mosquito net when she 'felt the presence of something' entering her room in Krabi province on June 10.

She turned the lights on, and found the large snake crawling next to her on the bed. It reportedly did not bite her thanks to the mosquito net that served as a makeshift barrier.

Naew quickly called the snake catchers to evacuate the giant reptile from her home.

When the specialists arrived, the python had already hidden itself behind Naew's cabinet. A rescuer named Chakrayuth pulled the piece of furniture away to reveal the coiled serpent raising its head, seemingly about to strike.

He first covered the snake's face with a cloth to prevent it from biting him before grabbing it with his bare hands. The officer then sealed it inside a sack to later release into nature.

It was not the first time a snake had intruded on Naew. She had previously encountered a cobra in her bathroom once before.

Naew said: 'I was sleeping in my bedroom when I felt something hit my shoulder. I thought it was my pet cat at first, but I was doubtful so I turned on the lights, and what I saw made my knees weak.

'It was a python, not a cat. I was lucky there was a mosquito net separating us so I was not bitten or attacked.'
