This is the moment a starving wild monkey snatched bags of fruits from tourists in Thailand

The hungry animal jumped onto the visitors' van and made off with two bags of the produce in Khao Sam Muk Hill in Chonburi Province on May 24. It happily ate its meal while perched on a set of park guardrails.

Monkey food vendor Witchayut Silapachan, 29, said: 'If the monkey snatches food from you, do not try to fight back because it might harm you.'

He warned holidaymakers to take care as the primates are also attracted to shiny belongings such as a bracelets, earrings, and glasses.

Thailand's monkeys used to be fed with high-carb snacks and sugary drinks by visiting tourists until travel and business restrictions were imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The country had been battling to control their surging monkey population before the pandemic started two years ago. Officials had even begun sterilising large numbers of primates.
