The two world's tallest transmission towers linked across the Yangtze River have been built in eastern China.

Video filmed on June 13 shows 24 cables stretching more than 2.5 kilometres being installed between the two 385-metre-tall power transmission towers wired across the Yangtze River, the longest river in Asia.

The power-transmission project is expected to be put into operation before the end of this year. It will then transmit 28.9 billion kilowatt-hours of renewable energy from the north of the Yangtze to the south, aiming to supply electricity for eight million households.
