Mourners in the West Bank city of Jenin today (June 29) carried the body of Palestinian Mohammad Marei who was allegedly killed during an Israeli raid.

The 25-year-old died from a bullet wound to the chest, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group said that one of its men was killed "confronting the occupation forces" in Jenin.

The Israeli military said it conducted "counter-terrorism activities" in several West Bank locations.

STORYLINE:

Israeli forces early today shot and killed a Palestinian youth during a military incursion into the West Bank city of Jenin, local sources confirmed.

Mohammad Marei, 25, from Jenin refugee camp, was shot and critically injured by Israeli soldiers during an early morning raid into the city and later died of his wounds, according to Wissam Baker, head of the Khalil Suleiman hospital.

The forces detained two Palestinians after raiding their families' houses in Jenin before leaving the city.
