The harrowing scene in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was all too familiar on Independence Day (July 4) as a second violent shooting happened in a major US city.

With fireworks still going off in the background, the residents of the City of Brotherly Love scurried away in fear of their lives as the scenes that unfolded in Highland Park, Chicago earlier in the day were relived in the most terrifying way.

Two police officers were shot near the conclusion of a Fourth of July fireworks show near the Ben Franklin Parkway at around 10:45 pm, media reports indicate.

One officer received a graze wound. The other officer's condition was not immediately known. They were both transferred to the Jefferson University Hospital for treatment, according to local news.

The shooting took place in Center City on Monday night. The city Office of Emergency Management advised on Twitter to avoid the area.

At least six were killed and dozens hospitalized in a shooting at a parade in Highland Park, Illinois earlier on the holiday
