Thrills - and plenty of spills - as waiters in London’s Soho take part in annual champagne race

Dozens of staff from bars and restaurants in London’s West End took part in the legendary Waiters' Race on Sunday, part of the Soho Village Fete.

The race is an annual tradition dating back to the 1950s and is now held as part of the fete.

The rules are simple: complete the circuit around Soho carrying a napkin, a bottle of fizz, an ashtray, a glass on a tray - and finish without dropping any of them.

Unfortunately, one hasty participant made it only a few metres before dropping his tray, though others faring better were seen celebrating on the finish line by soaking themselves and spectators with the bubbly.
