A hapless stray kitten was impaled on an iron fence after falling from the roof of a house in Thailand.

The black male moggie was found by rescuers on June 22, with its abdomen and left leg skewered by spikes protecting the residence in Ratchaburi province.

The homeowner said: 'I was watching TV in my house and suddenly, I heard a kitten meowing. It sounded hurt so I decided to search around for it.

'Later, I found it impaled on top of the fence so I decided to call the rescuers to ask for help.'

The officers wore leather gloves to protect themselves from the agitated cat that was likely to hurt them since it was injured.

They first hacked off the spikes piercing the pitiful animal, before wrapping it tightly to keep it from moving around and lodging the foreign objects further into its body.

The stray has now been taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
