Raging flash floods cascaded through homes during a catastrophic summer storm in the Philippines.

Footage shows fast-flowing currents surging like muddy waterfalls out of a home's window in Banaue town, Ifugao province on July 7.

The disastrous downpour also triggered power outages and mudslides, forcing the evacuation of some 1,500 people in six villages, the national disaster council said. Three people were also reported suffering from minor injuries.

The Department of Agriculture in a bulletin said about 198 hectares of land were affected by the floods, causing about 14.6 million PHP
(250,000 USD) worth of agricultural damage. The agency added that mostly rice and assorted vegetable crops were destroyed as the country faces a looming food crisis due to bloated prices caused by inflation.

The local tourism department said roads to Banaue are passable as of Sunday, July 10, but said that clearing operations are still ongoing.

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
