A greedy python was caught stalking a chicken coop after eating two fighting cocks in Thailand.

The 13ft-long serpent with a bulging belly was spotted by a farmer who called the animal rescuers for help in Ang Thong province on July 18.

When the snake wranglers arrived, they used a stick to lure the snake out from the ledge before grabbing it off the structure using bare hands.

Footage shows skillful rescuers pulling the python out of the coop while securing its neck. The farmer then found a snakeskin at the back of the coop which meant that the creature had been feeding off his chicken for a while.

Farmer Apichart Jumpolla, 38, said: ‘Many chickens had recently disappeared. Then my fighting cocks went next. I then decided to check the vicinity and saw the snake.'

Rescuer Ratha Tapianthong used a stair to climb up the coop. However, the python was aggressive and tried to bite the rescuer.

The python later tried to slither away after spitting two chickens to empty its belly and move faster.

When it was cornered, the snake wrangler grabbed it and took out of the coop. She put it into a sack to release it back to nature.

Thailand is home to three species of python, one of which is the reticulated python which is among the longest and most dangerous snakes in the world.

In 2021, a farmer in Chonburi province came across a massive 20ft-long python that required eight rescuers to pull from the fields.
