Villager sets water alight as gas emerges from river in southern China
A villager managed to set water alight as gas emerged from a river in southern China.
Bizarre video filmed in the city of Chongqing on July 22 shows a villager using the fire to ignite the water on a river.
A woman was heard saying: "The water is flammable. Is it not strange?"
According to a villager Ms Yi, this phenomenon has occurred for around five years.
The shale gas in the river causes the water to become flammable. The gas is very common in the village and it normally does not cause a high risk.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
