Man arrested on suspicion of arson and carrying firearm in Islington

A man was arrested on suspicion of arson and carrying a firearm on Junction Road, Islington, on July 24.

The Metropolitan Police released a statement saying: "Police were called shortly after 12:00hrs on Sunday, 24 July to reports of a domestic disturbance on Junction Road, N19, and further reports of a firearm discharge.

"A fire had also been started at the property.

"Armed officers responded, and when they arrived a man was making threats to shoot a member of the public; he was quickly detained and a suspected firearm recovered from the scene.

"As a result of officers’ actions, a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon [a knife] and arson. A Taser was discharged during the arrest."
