Tommy Robinson spoke outside the High Court in London after being fined 900 pounds (1,100 dollars) for contempt of court.

The English Defence League founder was fined for failing to turn up to a High Court hearing in March to be questioned about his finances.

Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, complained of "financial terrorism" over 21,000 pounds he was also ordered to pay -- legal costs incurred by the opposite side in the Syrian schoolboy libel case he lost last year.

But Robinson noted that he was not jailed and that the legal costs imposed were substantially less than the other side was seeking. He also complained that some of the legal costs the other side was trying to recover were for things that never happened.

Jamal Hijazi successfully sued him for libel after he was assaulted at school. Robinson had falsely accused Hijazi of attacking girls at his school.
