An explosion at a shopping centre in the Armenian capital Yerevan on Sunday killed at least one person and injured many more.

The footage filmed on August 14 shows the blast from a distance with a huge column of smoke rising above the city. It then shows shots of the destruction on the ground with rescue workers trying to help people.

The cause of the blast was unknown, although the blast is believed to have happened at a building where fireworks were stored.

As a result of the explosion in the Surmalu shopping center, the number of injured citizens reached 30 people, the press secretary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Hayk Kostanyan noted.

According to him, at the moment, fire and search operations are underway at the site of the explosion, it is possible that there may be victims under the rubble.

According to preliminary data, a fire broke out and a blast occurred at the explosives warehouse. A three-story warehouse building collapsed. At the moment, a large number of rescuers are working at the site.
