A chilled-out online gamer calmly carried on playing while ignoring an EARTHQUAKE shaking the building.

The lad was engrossed in the multi-player battle game when the tremors rattled the internet cafe in Digos City, Davao del Sur, on Monday afternoon.

CCTV footage shows how 12 other panicked young lads fled from the concrete structure amid fears it could collapse, such was the strength of the Magnitude 5.6 earthquake. It came just weeks after a similar quake killed 10 people.

However, one youngster stayed glued to the screen and refused to let the disaster ruin his session, which he had already paid for by putting coins into the slot on the PC tower.

Shopkeeper Mars Tabanao said: 'I admire this kid's dedication to his hobby. Thankfully there was no damage to the building and nobody was hurt.'

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the shallow earthquake rattled Davao del Sur province in the south of the country.

Officials reported that the quake struck at 4:23 p.m. local time with at a depth of six kilometers, around 11 kilometers northwest of Magsaysay town.

On July 27, a powerful magnitude 7 earthquake rattled the main Luzon island in the Philippines, killing 10 people and injuring 394 others.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
