Unusual traditional Thai massage uses hammer and wood to ease customers' body pain
This unusual traditional Thai massage technique uses a hammer and a wooden stake to ease customers' body pains.
Footage shows massage therapists targeting pressure points by repeatedly striking their clients' bodies with the unconventional relaxation tools in a spa in Bangkok, Thailand.
The practice is called Tok Sen, an ancient Thai treatment said to have originated from northern Thailand.
The rhythmic tapping is believed to spread healing vibrations throughout the customers' muscles, which is believed to help clear tension and energy blockages. The massage also reportedly increases flexibility, and improves blood circulation and posture.
The 'Tok' in its name stands for the sound the mallets make, while the 'Sen' refers to the energy lines that a person possesses, according to traditional Thai massage philosophy.
