Lightning bolt strikes town centre during monsoon storm in the Philippines
This is the scary moment a lightning bolt struck a town centre during a monsoon storm in the Philippines.
Dashcam footage shows the sharp bolt touching down in Tigaon town, Camarines Sur while villagers were holding a fiesta on August 12.
The flash was immediately followed by a reverberating thunderclap that jolted the car's passengers.
Driver Russell Rosero said: 'I felt the force of the lightning and thunder in my car. It was the scariest storm I've ever been in.'
Lightning is caused by electrical imbalances between the clouds and the ground. About 100 cloud-to-ground bolts strike the Earth every second, with each bolt containing up to a billion volts of electricity.
