A stray cat was rescued after slipping and being impaled on a family's iron fence spikes.

The black feline was crying in pain when residents found one of its limbs was caught on the structure that was meant to guard their plants in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand on August 12.

Rescuers were called to the scene to help the creature. They carefully removed its pierced leg from the spike and rushed the cat to the vet.

Footage shows the volunteers pulling the frightened cat off the fence before it was secured into a basket.

Homeowner Saeree Mankong, 53, said: ‘I heard the constant cry that sounded like a cat so I went over and found the stray. I believe the kitty must have slipped and fell while walking around.

‘I'm glad we called for help before it was too late. The volunteers told me that the cat will be put for adoption after recovery.'

They then examined the wound, which appeared to only have been stabbed through the cat's skin.

The rescuers took the cats to the vets and it will be put up for adoption once it has recovered.
