Fire service officials conduct rescue operation after boat capsizes in eastern India

Fire service officials rushed to the rescue of people who were on a boat when it capsized in eastern India's Odisha.

The incident happened in Mahanadi river at Mahakalapada in the Kendrapara district of the state on August 20.

Visuals showed the Odisha fire service personnel conduct the rescue operation as they safely brought all the people on their rescue boat. They were then taken to the shore from where the people were seen getting off the boat.

According to reports, the prompt response of the Odisha fire personnel has saved the lives of 70 people who were swept away in Mahanadi river.  A passenger boat was ferrying 70 passengers from Paradeep to Bahakuda in Mahakalpada area this evening.

The firefighters and the local police reached the spot within no time and carried out a rescue operation with the help of the local boatmen.
