A kind passerby rescued a puppy dumped on a busy highway in the Philippines.

Tuktuk driver Jack Tanghal was on his way home when he noticed the disoriented pooch on the side of a road in Bulacan province on February 20.

The animal lover turned back and picked up the scared creature from the ditch.

Footage shows Jack and his friends securing the dog into a box to take home.

He said: ‘The puppy was very weak and starving. His owners might have dumped him because he was sick.'

The dog lover made a tiny sleeping space for the dog in their garage, where it would stay until vets could see him.

He added: ‘I fed the dog and he was safe now. He will stay in the garage until his health check is cleared. I have 40 other rescued dogs inside the house so it's safe to isolate him first if he is sick.'
