Crocodile strays inside police outpost in central India, rescued
A crocodile was rescued after it strayed inside a police outpost in central India's Madhya Pradesh.
The incident happened in the premises of the Imalia outpost of Tejgarh police station in Damoh district of the state on August 24.
Visuals showed the crocodile tied to a pole outside the police outpost after the officers were able to capture it. According to a report, the reptile came from the Vyarma river and entered the police outpost.
The police officers were expectedly shocked after seeing the animal and they showed exemplary courage in capturing it before binding it to a pole. Anand Ahirwal, the outpost-in-charge, said that they first arranged a rope and then somehow managed to catch the reptile.
Later on, they informed the forest department officials who subsequently arrived and took away the crocodile. It was learnt that they released it in the Singrampur forest. Due to heavy rainfall, these aquatic creatures have been displaced from their habitat and thus they have ended up straying here and there.
The police officials were also fortunate that they could spot the crocodile with the light outside the outpost. Had there been no light, a major tragedy could have occurred.
