A man paid for a new car using buckets of coins worth $5,290 (£4,574) at a garage in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Mianyang in Sichuan Province on August 26 shows employees in a garage counting 10 bags of coins on a table.

According to reports, the man runs a direct-drinking water business that he installs devices that filter tapwater for residents. He received a lot of coins from his work and wanted to pay for a new car with them.

Four employees from the garage and 10 workers from a bank counted the coins together for more than two hours.

The car was worth 109,800 yuan (£13,755) and the man used 36,500 yuan (£4,570) worth of coins to partially pay for the vehicle and used a bank card to pay the rest.
