A British woman lost her smartwatch whilst swimming in Paphos, Cyprus, before it was found by another holidaymaker and returned to her in the UK, nearly 2 weeks later. Abbi Ward, 23, jumped off the side of the glass-bottom boat tour she was on, before realising that the Apple Watch had disappeared from her wrist a short while later. Before another holidaying Brit found the smartwatch whilst snorkeling in the area a week later. The Digital Marketing Executive from Wolverhampton was visiting the Mediterranean island with her family for a cousins wedding. On their last day of Cypriot sun on the 12th of August, Abbi and her family decided to go on a glass-bottom boat tour. The boat then dropped anchor off the coast of Paphos, allowing people to snorkel and jump off the boat. Abbi jumped off the side of the boat and 40 minutes later realised that her Apple Watch was no longer safely attached to her wrist. She said: “I was in the sea with my cousin when I checked my wrist and realised it was gone.” Abbi then spent the remaining time snorkeling, desperately trying to locate the missing watch, to no avail. A frustrated Abbi flew home later that day, feeling particularly distressed with the situation. "At that point I felt really traumatised - I love my watch!” She said. Her luck certainly hadn't ran out, however, as 8 days later on the 20th August, she received a very welcome message from a man who had done the very same boat trip a week later. He told Abbi that whilst snorkeling further away from the boat, he had found the watch sat on a rock 5-6 metres under the water. He then took the watch back to his hotel where he conveniently had an Apple Watch charger. The watch then flashed up with Abbi's medical ID, allowing the kind stranger to find Abbi on social media. Abbi posted a TikTok video of the ordeal - racking up over 700,000 views - with many commenting on the kindness of the stranger.
