This is the heartwarming moment a teacher chased her nervous student who ran away from class on the first day of school.

Footage shows kindergarten teacher Lyka Alveza riding her scooter while trailing behind a brisk-walking five-year-old boy in Cagayan province, the Philippines, on August 28.

The video was filmed by her colleague teacher Roselyn Campano who rode pillion as they pursued the boy.

Despite calling on the boy, he remained looking straight ahead and ignored the teachers who asked him to stop.

The teachers didn't want to scare the toddler even more, so they just accompanied him until he safely reached home.

Teacher Roselyn said: ‘The boy had just arrived inside the classroom but looked nervous. He told us he wanted to get snacks outside but took his bag with him and went out of the gates.'

Other students informed the teachers that the five-year-old had left the school compound, so they immediately took the scooter to catch up with him.

After the chase, the teachers talked to the parents about the incident and he went back to class.
