A snake struck fear in the hearts of children after it sneaked into a school in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident happened at the Government Secondary School in Sanodha village in Shahgarh block of Sagar district on September 9.

Visuals showed forest department officials capturing the snake, which was inside a box full of books and other stuff in the middle of a classroom. A stir among the students as well as other staff members of the school was created after the reptile was spotted.

The teachers reportedly informed the forest department, whose officials came to the school to grab the reptile. The snake, black in colour, was seen slithering towards one corner of the wall and then trying to climb across it. One of the officials held out a snake catcher stick, with which he grabbed hold of the reptile and pulled it out of the box. He then put it inside a plastic canister.

The snake was then locked inside it and later, reportedly released into the wild. The case of such snakes appearing is not new, however. During the rainy season, many such snakes have been spotted in the area.
