One day after Hurricane Fiona passed, most of the Island of Puerto Rico was still in the dark yesterday, although it is expected that by today more LUMA Energy subscribers will be able to receive energy in their residences.

Yesterday, the system had the generation of four units of the Central Palo Seco and two units in service in the Central San Juan, informed the consortium in charge of the transmission and distribution of energy in Puerto Rico.

In addition, it was indicated that a unit of the Central Cambalache would be integrated into the system to support the units in service, provide energy to a district hospital in Arecibo and to energize the Superaqueduct, which would restore the drinking water service to several municipalities in the north zone.

According to a LUMA press release, at 11:00 a.m. As of yesterday, service had been restored to 100,000 customers in the municipalities of San Juan, Corozal, Toa Alta, Toa Baja and Bayamón. For response work, LUMA maintains 1,648 brigades on the streets, supported by 339 brigades from private companies, for a total of 1,987.
