Dozens of riot police were seen guarding the Iranian embassy in London on Sunday 25 September, as a protest against the Iranian government went on on the other side of the road.

Protesters on Sunday had managed to get close enough to the embassy to throw paint bombs at its windows and walls.

The beefed up police presence also followed large protests on Saturday, outside the Embassy and in Trafalgar Square, demanding an end to the regime in Tehran.

The protests began over the death of Mahsa Amini after she was detained by Iran’s morality police, allegedly for not wearing her hijab correctly and for trousers that were too tight under her outer garments.

Supporters say a police beating caused her death but the police claimed it was the result of natural causes.

Her death has sparked protests across Iran and around the world.
