Mass brawl erupts at skyscraper restaurant in famously-polite Japan
Police were called when a mass brawl involving more than 100 diners erupted in a restaurant in Japan.
The group had booked the glamorous French eatery in the Sunshine 60 tower in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district when tensions flared and fighting erupted on October 16.
Terrified staff in the famously-polite low-crime city called the police after the scuffle began, but only a handful of those involved was still in the restaurant by the time officers arrived.
One man was found with a minor head injury while shattered glasses and bottles littered the scene.
Japanese media, citing an 'investigative source,' identified the group as being part of the 'Chinese Dragon' club. They are reportedly composed of descendants of Japanese orphans left in China after German ally Japan withdrew from the country during World War II.
Officers said the group were celebrating one member's release from jail when the incident occurred, adding they are approaching the disturbance as a suspected property damage case.
There was no restaurant staff who were reported injured, while one of the customers involved who was wounded in the fracas has been taken to the hospital.
