A passing member of the public confronted a Just Stop Oil activist over the spray-painting of several luxury car dealerships in Mayfair, London.

Footage from October 25 shows the man in a suit stating, "this is destructive and vandalistic," as the climate activist was being detained by police.

He adds: "You're not helping to do anything you're just throwing paint on a building. I don't see how that's helping people not eat. How about instead spending of money on paint, buy food for someone."

The activist responds: "We do contribute to food banks but that is not solving the problem, we need systematic change.

"Property is being protected over human life. We do not have the necessary legal protection against the destruction of the very things we need to survive which is food, water, clean air, shelter, affordable energy.

"These are the things we need not luxury car dealerships."

She then challenges the passing man to "do better" in helping the climate.
