This superstitious Thai woman has not had her hair cut in 10 years after her stubborn 'cursed' locks kept regrowing in tangles.

The woman named Natcha, 50, a resident of Thailand's Trang province, decided to avoid salons as those who cut her hair had fallen 'severely ill'.

Her bizarre predicament began a decade ago when she woke up to find a knot among her hair strands.

Natcha had tried combing to smooth it out, and even completely shaved her head, but the persistent bundle kept growing back.

Desperate, she visited a psychic medium who chopped off her hair. However, Natcha said the mystic became seriously ill for several days.

The tenacious knot, meanwhile, had reappeared weeks later.

Today, Natcha has learned to live with the matted log of hair she carries around while doing daily chores.

She claimed: 'One night in my dreams, there was a man who told me to try and use a gun to shoot the hair, so I did. However, it turned out that the pistol didn't fire.'

'I think the hair will have to stay this way since I wouldn't dare to have another haircut.'

The frayed brown strands have now grown to a length of 117 centimetres.

Natcha washes her mane up to twice a week, waiting hours for the tangled mass to dry.

Her hairdo has been dubbed 'ghost hair bunch' by the neighbours, who keep their distance from her.
