A shark spotted while snorkeling in the Turks and Caicos islands, 2022

For years I had wanted to do underwater photography while snorkeling or scuba diving but never had the right camera at the time. Finally after buying several cameras and not being satisfied with the results, we went snorkeling off the coast of Providenciales, the island most visited in the Turks and Caicos chain of island. Not more than ten minutes in the water, a shark appeared beneath me in plain view. The first reaction, of course, is to be concerned. The second was to feel incredibly lucky to see it. I shot video as long as the shark remained in view but did not attempt to follow it longer or to go down any closer to where it was swimming. There were many other people in the water in the vicinity but, since the shark was minding its own business, I did not attempt to warn anyone.
