This is the heartwarming moment a football player deliberated missed a penalty after their teammate was seen diving.

Footage shows how the goalkeeper collected the ball from a corner and then swung an elbow as he moved away from a striker blocking his path.

The goalkeeper did not touch the forward but he collapsed on the ground clutching his face - emulating soccer stars like Neymar and Messi.

The referee awarded a penalty but the player appeared to admit that he had dived amid remonstrations with the opposing players.

His teammate then walked up to the spot-kick and tamely kicked it wide to ensure the scores remained level between MH Nakhonsi City and Jalor City in the Thai League 3.

A team spokesman said MH Nakhonsi City went on to win the game 2-0 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, southern Thailand, on October 15.

They said: 'We believe that this was a foul but we did not want to win the game through those circumstances, that is why the player missed the penalty on purpose.'
