Overexcited Argentina fan destroys his TV with single punch after Messi goal
This is the moment a diehard Lionel Messi fan destroyed his television after his hero scored the crucial first goal in Argentina's nervy win over Mexico in the World Cup.
Wearing the national shirt with a number 10 and "Messi" on the back, fan Gabriel shouts excitedly at the TV that is showing the game and energetically pumps his fists after Messi's left-foot strike put Argentina 1-0 up. He then smacks the TV screen with his right hand and the TV goes off.
"What did he do? What did he do? He broke it all!" Gabriel's girlfriend and filmer Mimi is heard saying in the video in Spanish, which was filmed in Buenos Aires.
"We were watching the game when suddenly my boyfriend went crazy because of Messi's goal against Mexico," she later said online.
"Hahahahah, he broke everything after the first goal," she captioned the video on TikTok.
Argentina, one of the tournament favourites, surprisingly lost their opening World Cup match against little fancied Saudi Arabia, piling the pressure on the team. But they recovered to beat Mexico 2-0 on November 26 in the Group C World Cup match.
In the US, the game was reportedly the most watched Spanish-language World Cup group stage broadcast, according to reports.
