This misbehaving pet cat was put in an aquarium jail after it ate all of its owner's betta fish.

The hungry four-month-old feline named Magi was detained in the transparent fish tank as punishment for snacking on owner Krystel's prized fish in Cabuyao city, Laguna province in the Philippines on November 30.

Footage shows the cat sitting forlornly inside the container as it received an ear-bashing from Krystel's husband.

Krystel said: 'My husband keeps lots of betta fish in the house. He was awoken by a noise one morning, but he just dismissed it since it was still so early and we are already used to Magi causing chaos.

'When we went out of bed later that morning, Magi was missing while the fish tank was toppled over and empty.

'When Magi returned from our neighbour's house, we decided to punish him by putting him in the aquarium instead.'

The mischievous kitty was eventually let out of prison after the couple decided it had learned its lesson.
